Philosophy and Beliefs
I believe in creating a risk-free and a positive learning environment for all students. They need to feel comfortable in their surroundings and know that they can be themselves and make mistakes freely. I strive to create a warm and inviting environment for teachers and students. From the first day of school to the last day of school, we focus on building a building relationships. We know and understand that we are a community inspiring and igniting learners.
Treating everyone and everything with respect is very important. I encourage this behavior. Positive reinforcement is another important component in a safe learning environment. I make sure to celebrate achievements.
Expectations are also a huge part of our environment. I collaborate with teachers by reviewing each child’s expectations for behavior, actions, and their work. I believe in every single teacher and student. Each of them has the potential to succeed in school and in life. My expectations encourage all learners to strive to be their best.
Another important belief and large component in my teaching is that I collaborate, plan, and create engaging, hands-on, student-centered lessons. These lessons encourage student comprehension and make learning fun. Most of my lessons require lots of planning and preparation outside of the normal school day. I enjoy and take pride creating these lessons and activities which promote student achievement. Our curriculum is ever changing, and it is my job to stay on top of it and figure out which lessons or ideas will best suit the teachers and the students. I work hard to meet each teacher where he or she is. Some of my lessons require lots of peer-to-peer collaboration and incorporate technology. We can always help and learn from one another.
Most importantly, I have a passion for teaching and for learning. School should be exciting and fun, and I work extra hard to make it that way. I know that I am instilling that same passion for lifelong learning in my teachers and the students. I look forward to collaborating and instilling the same passion and excitement with you!
